National Museums Liverpool (NML) is the largest cultural organisation in the Northwest. We have welcomed over three millions visitors to our venues.
For more than a decade we have built up expertise supporting the health and wellbeing of vulnerable and active older people and people living with dementia and their carers.
House of Memories was created by National Museums Liverpool, as a dementia awareness training programme for North West health and social care providers. The primary aim is to connect care providers with the objects, archives and stories at the Museum of Liverpool, to provide greater dementia awareness, practical skills and access to new resources. This will develop a deeper understanding of and support for people living with dementia, whilst creating a unique partnership between the health, social care, housing and museum sector.
The programme’s core mission is to provide the health, social care and housing workforce with practical skills and resources that will enable them to use arts and culture to support people living with dementia, whilst encouraging innovative approaches and alternatives to established practices and therapies.
